Helicopter Flight

May 30 2012

Helicopter Flight

After days of waiting for the weather to clear 9 lucky QAWC members made their way to the east pier of Cape Town harbour to  Cape Town Helicopters he would be taking our excited members for a helicopter flight over the city.  Our members were met by Stephanie, the representative from Aviation Junction who made the whole thing possible.

Stephanie and her colleague raised funds while taking part in this year’s Cape Argus cycle tour.  All funds raised went towards taking people with disabilities in a helicopter.  QAWC members were invited to state their interest in taking part, with all the interested parties names being put into a lucky draw.

The 9 lucky members arrived at the Waterfront bright and early, all looking forward to the flight of a lifetime.  Members left their wheelchairs behind on the tarmac and were loaded one by one into the helicopter.  The helicopter flew down along the Atlantic seaboard up until the 12 Apostles before returning to the airfield.

The smiles on the members faces when exiting the helicopter left everyone present in no doubt that they had had a good time and that their helicopter flight would be remembered for many years to come.  QAWC would like to offer their sincere thanks to Aviation Junction for making this awesome event possible.  The killer missing members who took part had an unforgettable experience and for that we are extremely grateful.
